CRA partnered with Lalbuksh Voltas to design and deliver a high-performance biogas compression skid system for Mazoom Dairy in Oman. The system was engineered to compress and transport biogas across a 4-kilometer pipeline for energy recovery at a remote utilization point—demonstrating CRA’s international execution capability and responsiveness to challenging site environments.

The Challenge

Designing a Reliable Biogas Compression System for Harsh Desert Conditions

Mazoon Dairy required a biogas compression solutionthat could:

  • Reliably transport biogas over a 4 km distance to a remote energy site.
  • Operate continuously in Oman’s extreme temperature and desert climate.
  • Maintain stable flow and discharge pressure for efficient downstream utilization.
  • Integrate smoothly with local infrastructure and adhere to tight commissioning timelines.

Our Solution

Custom Compression Skid with Dual-Unit Redundancy and International Integration Support

CRA engineered and supplied a robust biogascompression system based on proven rotary sliding vane technology (Ro-Flo®),featuring:

  • Rotary Vane Compression Package: 443 Nm³/hr flow rate at 2.5 bar discharge pressure.
  • Built-In Redundancy: Dual compressor configuration (duty + standby) to ensure continuous operation.
  • Desert-Grade Design: Customized materials and thermal management for high-temperature reliability.
  • Seamless Collaboration: Coordination of engineering, testing, and logistics between CRA’s engineering centre and local partners for efficient installation and commissioning.

Results

Reliable Biogas Transport and Proven System Performance

  • Sustained Operational Reliability: Continuous, stable operation under desert environmental conditions.
  • Efficient Energy Utilization: Enabled long-distance biogas transport to remote use points.
  • On-Time Commissioning: Delivered and commissioned within scheduled timelines through coordinated international teamwork.
  • Client Confidence: Reinforced CRA’s reputation for precision-engineered gas handling systems in global renewable energy projects.

Conclusion

Proving CRA’s Global Capability in Biogas Compression Solutions

This project highlights CRA’s ability to deliver tailored, high-performance gas handling systems for international renewable energy applications. It alsoshowcases the long-standing collaboration between CRA, Ro-Flo Compressors, and Lalbuksh Voltas—reflecting a proven record of reliable performance, engineeringprecision, and timely project execution in demanding environments.
